This interesting idea has come from Sriram Viswanathan, vice president and director of Intel Capital's mobility sector. He feels that as a result of the spread of WiMax technology, laptop business will get related to it in near future. It has already happened for PDA and now the time for laptop is near. EE Times reported:
“An executive from Intel's venture capital arm provided a glimpse into the future Wednesday (Sept. 27), saying Intel Capital believes that notebook computers will follow the route of PDAs and cell phones and eventually be sold at subsidized rates with WiMax service contracts.
Sriram Viswanathan, vice president and director of Intel Capital's mobility sector, said WiMax would fundamentally change the laptop computer business model.”
If it really happens then the market of laptop will expand significantly. Many users want to have laptop with Internet facilities but they cannot afford the expense. If laptop companies join hand with WiMax providers and give special discounts then it will be win-win situation for the three sides:
The laptop manufacturers
WiMax providers
The consumers
laptops
A laptop computer, or simply laptop (also notebook computer or notebook), is a small mobile computer, which usually weighs 2.2-18 pounds (1-6 kilograms), depending on size, materials, and other factors.
Laptops usually run on a single main battery or from an external AC/DC adapter which can charge the battery while also supplying power to the computer itself. Many computers also have a 3volt cell to run the clock and other processes in the event of a power failure.
