Virgin Atlantic backs off from Ban on battery-powered Dell and Apple Laptops

Virgin Atlantic created enormous hue and cry in the tech world recently when it banned use of battery powered Dell and Apple laptops inside the plane. Well, many passengers were extremely unhappy. They were unhappy because Virgin Atlantic authorities imposed an indiscriminate ban without irrespective of battery model. It’s not that all the batteries are dangerous or have the risk of causing problem. So, some of the passengers complained and Virgin Atlantic officials have realized that making the passengers annoyed can only hurt their business. So, they have come out with a good way of dealing the problem. Times Online reported:

“The new rules mean that if your battery is identified by a crew member as safe, it will be permitted for use on board. If the battery’s serial number is on the list, it must be removed, individually wrapped and placed in your carry-on luggage. The laptop may be powered through the in-seat power supplies but this facility is not available in economy class.”

That sounds reasonable enough. I guess that now no passenger will complain. The number of laptops is growing all the time. So, this kind of problem will only increase in the next years.
