With the market size of laptop growing, many companies are now interested about improving the display of laptop. Display is a very important feature of a laptop and any ground breaking technology will ensure massive popularity for the laptops of a particular company. Thus the cooperation between Lite-On and Cree, Inc. will be an interesting one. Yahoo! Finance has published a press release in this regard. It stated:
“LED industry leaders Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE - News) and Lite-On Technology Corporation today announced a licensing arrangement that will enhance both companies' ability to aggressively develop and market white LED-based products for backlighting laptop computer displays.
The arrangement includes a license for Cree's pioneering white LED patent, U.S. Patent No. 6,600,175. The license authorizes Lite-On, a strategic chip customer for Cree located in Taiwan, to manufacture and sell light bars incorporating Cree white LEDs for use in backlighting the LCD displays of laptops. This marks the first license Cree has granted specifically for a system-level application targeting laptop displays.”
Good news for both the companies. I wish that this cooperation can help the laptop users.
laptops
A laptop computer, or simply laptop (also notebook computer or notebook), is a small mobile computer, which usually weighs 2.2-18 pounds (1-6 kilograms), depending on size, materials, and other factors.
Laptops usually run on a single main battery or from an external AC/DC adapter which can charge the battery while also supplying power to the computer itself. Many computers also have a 3volt cell to run the clock and other processes in the event of a power failure.
