laptops A laptop computer, or simply laptop (also notebook computer or notebook), is a small mobile computer, which usually weighs 2.2-18 pounds (1-6 kilograms), depending on size, materials, and other factors. Laptops usually run on a single main battery or from an external AC/DC adapter which can charge the battery while also supplying power to the computer itself. Many computers also have a 3volt cell to run the clock and other processes in the event of a power failure.

HP Compaq Rugged Notebook nr3600

This mobile rugged computer is an expensive one which has got good rating from Cnet editors. It resists against high vibration, dropping, humidity, water, dust and low and high and shock temperature. But Cnet editors prefer Panasonic CF-29 more. It is thinner than that Panasonic model but with larger screen- its monitor is 12.1" touch-screen with maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA) and comes with an ATI Mobility Radeon graphics processor with 16MB memory. Also, it has comfortable keyboard.

Unfortunately, its battery only works for 3.5 hours. It weighs 9.1 pounds which is very heavy that makes it one of the heaviest rugged laptops. Also, it doesn’t have a FireWire and has only one USB 1.1 port which makes me some annoyed. It has a DVD player but not DVD writer. Regardless of those disadvantages, it has better performance than Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 and Itronix GoBook II. This laptop comes with Intel Pentium 4-M processor with 1.7 GHz clock speed and 512 MB DDR SDRAM which can be expanded to 1GB. It has various wireless options. It has 3 years warranty.
